I recently finished work on a one-page site for the Boston Android User Group.
After reading Designed by Peter Saville several weeks ago, the idea of referencing classic design in contemporary contexts was fresh in my mind. Below is Jan Tschichold’s famous poster from 1928 along with Peter Saville’s poster from 1978 that was inspired by it. I wanted to pay homage to both these pieces with the site.
A constraint of this project was that it would be handed off to a developer who would need to be able to edit the site with nothing more than a text editor. I let the type be the focus of the design, using variation in size and spacing to structure the page. The site is set in the lovely open source typeface Prociono by Barry Schwartz.
